Hyperscore Classroom: Quick Tips

Hyperscore Classroom is the version of Hyperscore geared specifically for educators. We have made it free to educators, thanks to the generosity of our donors. Hyperscore Classroom enables you to coordinate a large number of composers, like groups of students in classrooms. Even better, for an entire organization – such as a school – one Hyperscore Classroom license is all that is needed. Here are some of the features of this version of Hyperscore, and how to get started.

How to Set Up Hyperscore Classroom Accounts

Users with a Hyperscore Classroom license are able to manage groups of composers and scores. These could represent classrooms, special events, and more. When users are added to a group, they gain access to all available compositional Hyperscore features. What’s more, individual users will still be able to access their own compositions even after a group is deleted. They can add these back into their own account to continue building on and inspiring future projects.

How to Set Up Groups

Each Hyperscore Classroom license has one account that serves as the Organization Administrator. This user has unique administrative abilities. For example, they can invite individuals to join the organization’s Hyperscore license as an Educator. The Administrator can also oversee the total amount of composers, educators, and scores included in the organization:

Student Email Addresses

A valid e-mail address is required for each student or educator to create and log in to their Hyperscore account. Many schools provide e-mail addresses for their students and staff to use. The e-mail address functions as a user name for accessing the account. However, e-mails from “support@hyperscore.com” must be able to be received in order to invite student composers to a Group, activate a new account, or reset forgotten passwords. If your school or district filters incoming e-mail, please have your IT department allow e-mails from “support@hyperscore.com” for these purposes.

If this is not possible, please contact us after you have invited students as composers in a Group and the students have started to create their accounts and have been prompted for a verification code. At this point in the process, we may be able to confirm the accounts for you without requiring receipt of the verification code e-mail.

If your students are NOT provided e-mail addresses, we recommend using virtual e-mail addresses, sometimes called “plus addressing“, with a third-party mail service. Using this method, teachers can give students unique e-mail address variations to sign up and log in to Hyperscore, but all verification and password e-mails would appear in the teacher’s e-mail account. Students do not need direct access to the e-mail account, just to remember the address variation created for them and their password. No sensitive student information will be sent via e-mail through this account.

Student Privacy Information

Hyperscore Classroom accounts are FERPA and COPPA compliant. Please review our privacy policy for more information. Hyperscore Classroom users must be at least 13 years of age or have parent/guardian permission to use the service. Many schools have a blanket permission policy, under which students are authorized to create accounts. If your school or organization requires it, we have a Parent/Guardian Consent form available.
